From this 1979 hit single, from a trio that called themselves “The Sugarhill Gang” with members Wonder Mike, Big Bank Hank, and Master Gee, came the realm of Hip Hop in the music industry.

(“Rapper’s Delight” is generally considered to be the song that first popularized hip hop in the United States and around the world.)

A “One Hit Wonder” that started a new era in the music world. From here came the birth of “Rapping, “B-Boying” (Breakdancing), “Urban Inspired Art” (Graffiti)and “DJ’ing”. It was also the birth of “Scratching”, a creation of rhythmic beats and effects that is executed by DJ’s. Most coming in from New Jersey and The Bronx NYC.
